Quick Tips

Another key is to make the most of the hotel’s very family-friendly amenities. During the day, the kids’ play area and swimming pool can occupy children when the excitement of sightseeing wears off for them and keeps parents within the calming green atmosphere of the hotel.

For sightseeing, plan your trip around the 32-km Loop Road. The Loop Road is a scenic drive around the main hills, through coffee plantations and forests, and past some of the main viewpoints, including Pagoda Point, Lady's Seat, and the Shevaroyan Temple (the highest point in Yercaud). Hire a local taxi or auto-rickshaw for a few hours to take you around this classic tour.

For something entirely natural, visit Kiliyur Falls. Advice is to go immediately after the rains, when the falls are most beautiful. The journey entails a short drive from the resort, then, a somewhat steep and moderately challenging walk down over 200 steps to reach the base of the 300 ft tall waterfall. The view from the bottom and the cold mist both pay back well.

Finally, though your hotel may boast its restaurant, the food scene in Yercaud is one you can’t afford to miss. A brisk walk into town will present you with local favorites and bakeries. Look out especially for the local coffee-it’s a coffee-growing area. And don’t forget to pick up some of their famous homemade chocolates or spicy peppery snacks at the outlets close to the lake.
